Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen fired a second-half hat-trick to seal a commanding 3-0 Champions League victory over Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday.
The Nigerian forward converted twice from the penalty spot, taking his tournament tally to six goals this season as the Turkish side climbed from 16th to ninth in the standings with nine points from four matches.
Four-time European champions Ajax remain bottom of the 36-team table without a single point.
Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, stooping to head in Leroy Sané’s cross, before doubling the lead seven minutes later with a well-taken penalty following a handball by Youri Baas.
The 25-year-old completed his treble from another spot kick in the 78th minute after Gerald Alders, making his European debut, handled the ball while blocking a shot.
Ajax’s best chance came when a mistake by Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir gifted Mika Godts a clear sight of goal, but the forward failed to capitalise.
