Doha: Al Rayyan secured a 97–83 victory over Al Wakrah in their game eight of the 2025–2026 season Qatar Basketball Federation League at the Al Gharafa Hall on Saturday, December 13.
Al Rayyan entered the game strongly from the early minutes, imposing control over the proceedings thanks to good spreading and defensive pressure, ending the first quarter leading 24–10. The team continued its superiority in the second quarter, benefiting from offensive effectiveness and quick transitions, winning it 29–23 and heading into halftime with a comfortable lead.
In contrast, Al Wakrah showed a clear reaction in the second half, successfully reducing the gap during the third quarter, which it won 26–25, benefiting from improved offensive performance, before continuing its relative superiority in the fourth quarter and winning it 24–19. However, this improvement was not enough to overturn the result, given the early advantage that Al Rayyan had built.

On the individual performance level, Wesley Mark Alsieger of Al Wakrah shone by scoring 31 points to become the top scorer in the game, while Tyler James Lee Harris stood out for Al Rayyan after scoring 23 points and contributing directly to deciding the confrontation.
With this victory, Al Rayyan topped the general standings with 13 points, while Al Wakrah raised its tally to 11 points, tying with Al Shamal, increasing the intensity of competition in the middle of the table.
On another note, the Competitions Committee of the Qatar Basketball Federation decided to postpone the Al Arabi vs. Al Shamal game in the eighth round, which was scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025, to be played on December 22, 2025, due to Al Arabi’s commitment to an important game against Kuwait SC in the West Asia Basketball Super League (WASL), scheduled for Monday, December 15, 2025.
The eighth round also sees the absence of Al Ahli Club in accordance with the tournament system, which grants each team one rest round during the season.
It has also been decided that the ninth round matches will begin with two games on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Federation Hall, where Al Khor meets Al Ahli, while Qatar Club faces Al Gharafa, in a round expected to witness strong competition given the close levels.
