Bodo/Glimt Produce Historic Shock to Knock Out Inter Milan

FK Bodø/Glimt delivered one of the biggest upsets of the Champions League season after defeating last year finalist Inter Milan 2–1 at the San Siro to secure a stunning 5–2 aggregate victory.

Trailing after the first leg, Inter entered the match under the pressure to win and qualify to the round of 16, but the Norwegian champions showed remarkable composure and tactical bravery. Bodø/Glimt refused to sit deep and defend their advantage, instead maintaining their aggressive attacking philosophy.

The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Jens Petter Hauge finished a swift attacking move with clinical precision, silencing the home crowd and increasing Inter’s desperation. The goal exposed defensive vulnerabilities within the Italian side, who struggled to cope with Bodø/Glimt’s pace and movement all through the game.

The game saw an end when Hakon Evjen doubled the lead in the 72nd minute, capitalizing on space behind Inter’s defense to effectively kill the tie. Although Alessandro Bastoni pulled one back four minutes later. Still, Inter never looked capable of mounting a sustained comeback.

Bodø/Glimt’s victory against Inter Milan is historic, marking the first time a Norwegian club has eliminated a major European powerhouse in a Champions League knockout tie. Their fearless approach, technical quality, and tactical cohesion overwhelmed a team widely considered among Europe’s elite.

For Inter, the elimination represents a major disappointment and will raise questions about defensive organization and mental resilience under pressure and tactical sluggishness.

For Bodø/Glimt, however, the triumph will be remembered for generations, a statement that European football’s hierarchy can still be challenged by ambitious underdogs.
