Brazil 1-2 France LIVE: Brazil fight back but Mbappe and Ekitike keep France in control

As it stands, Brazil national football team are trailing 0-2 against France national football team deep into the second half, and the difference between both sides has come down to one simple thing, execution.

France didn’t need many chances to take control of this match, but when those moments came, they were ruthless. The first goal arrived in the 32nd minute, and it came from exactly the kind of situation you expect. Kylian Mbappe found space, made the right run, and finished with the kind of sharpness that separates top players from everyone else. It wasn’t just about the goal, it immediately shifted the direction of the game.

Up until that point, Brazil had seen a fair amount of the ball, trying to build through midfield with patience, but there was a lack of real penetration. The movement in the final third wasn’t sharp enough, and every time they got close, the final decision let them down. France, on the other hand, looked comfortable without dominating possession, waiting for the right moment to strike.

That approach paid off again in the second half. Around the 64th minute, France extended their lead, and once again, it came from a well-worked attacking move. Hugo Ekitike finished the chance cleanly after being set up through the middle, making it 2-0 and putting France firmly in control.

At that point, the game stopped being about balance and started becoming about whether Brazil had enough to respond.

So far, the answer has been no.

Brazil have had moments, spells where they’ve pushed forward and tried to increase the tempo, but there’s a disconnect between buildup and finishing. Players like Vinícius Júnior have tried to create something out wide, and there have been attempts on goal, but nothing with enough quality to truly test the French defense consistently.

France, meanwhile, have looked like a team completely in control of the situation. They are not forcing the game, not overcommitting, just managing it with confidence. Their midfield has been compact, their transitions sharp, and defensively, they’ve dealt well with everything Brazil have thrown at them.

Even when Brazil push numbers forward, France still look dangerous on the break. Mbappé’s movement continues to stretch the defense, and every transition carries a sense that a third goal could come.

There have also been flashes of frustration creeping into Brazil’s performance. Fouls, yellow cards, rushed decisions, these are signs of a team chasing the game without a clear solution. When you combine that with missed chances and a lack of composure in key moments, it becomes difficult to turn things around.

From a tactical perspective, the difference is clear. France are playing with clarity. they know when to sit, when to press, and when to attack. Brazil, on the other hand, have had possession but not purpose. They’ve moved the ball, but without the sharpness needed to break down a well-organized side.

As it stands, this match is becoming more than just a friendly. It’s a statement about readiness ahead of bigger competitions. France look prepared, structured, and efficient. Brazil, despite their individual quality, still look like a team searching for rhythm and cohesion.

There is still time left, but the direction is clear. At 2-0 down, Brazil need something immediate, either a moment of brilliance or a sudden shift in intensity, to get back into this game.

Because right now, France are not just leading.

They are in control.
