Doha: Al Ahli SC secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Al Duhail SC in their Week 21 clash of the 2025-2026 Qatar Stars League at Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.
The win lifted Al Ahli to 23 points, while Al Duhail remained on 30 points, as The Brigadiers completed a league double over their rivals following a 3-2 victory in the first leg.
Michel Vlap opened the scoring in the 17th minute in dramatic fashion. The move was initiated by Julian Draxler down the left, and although the ball was initially intercepted and cleared by an Al Duhail defender, it fell kindly to Vlap, who capitalised on the loose ball to fire home.
Al Duhail SC responded in the 57th minute through Benjamin Bourigeaud, who produced a fine volley from a well-delivered assist by Mobarak Shanan Hamza to level the score.
The contest remained finely balanced until the closing stages, when Draxler struck the decisive goal in the 82nd minute. The German forward collected a long ball from Ahmed Reyad Elmawla at the edge of the box, turned swiftly and surged forward before slotting home the winner.
Al Ahli held firm in the final minutes to seal a hard-fought victory and claim all three points.
