Doha: Al Shahania SC delivered an impressive performance to defeat Al Shamal SC 2-0 in their Week 21 clash of the 2025-2026 Qatar Stars League at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Wednesday.
The victory earned Al Shahania three valuable points, lifting their tally to 20, while Al Shamal remained on 37 points.
Francesco Antonucci opened the scoring in the 14th minute, finishing from close range after being set up by Lotfi Majder, who had received a cross from Abdoulaye Traoré.
Al Shahania came close to doubling their advantage in first-half stoppage time, but Antonucci’s free-kick effort struck the crossbar.
The hosts eventually secured their second goal in the 76th minute when Moaz Tawhed Elwadia produced a fine run past several defenders before setting up Pelle van Amersfoort, who made no mistake with the finish.
Al Shamal SC thought they had pulled one back late on when Baghdad Bounedjah dispossessed the goalkeeper and found the net, but the referee ruled it out for a foul.
Al Shahania held firm in the closing stages to seal a deserved victory.
