Barcelona delivered a commanding performance in the Catalan derby, defeating Espanyol 4-1 at Camp Nou in a match defined by attacking quality and late-game control.
The hosts made a blistering start and took the lead early through Ferran Torres in the 9th minute, finishing a well-worked move assisted by Lamine Yamal. Barcelona’s dominance was clear from the outset, with Espanyol struggling to cope with their movement and intensity.
Torres struck again in the 25th minute, once more assisted by Yamal, doubling Barcelona’s advantage and putting the game firmly under their control before halftime.
Espanyol offered little attacking threat in the first half, as Barcelona dictated possession and tempo with ease.
The visitors, however, showed some fight after the break. In the 56th minute, Pol Lozano pulled one back for Espanyol, giving them a glimmer of hope and briefly shifting momentum.
But Barcelona quickly reasserted control. As the game entered its final stages, their quality told once again.
In the 87th minute, Lamine Yamal capped off an outstanding performance with a goal of his own to restore the two-goal cushion. Moments later, Marcus Rashford added a fourth in the 89th minute after being set up by Frenkie de Jong, sealing an emphatic victory for the hosts.
Barcelona’s attacking fluidity and efficiency proved too much for Espanyol, who struggled defensively throughout the contest. The result strengthens Barça’s position at the top of La Liga and reinforces their dominance in the derby.
For Espanyol, it was another disappointing outing, as their struggles continue against top opposition.
