The heartbeat of the game: FIFA unveils bold Adidas uniforms for 2026 World Cup volunteers

New York: FIFA has officially pulled back the curtain on the volunteer kits for the FIFA World Cup 2026, revealing a vibrant, high-energy ensemble designed to kit out the tournament’s massive workforce. Created by long-time partner adidas, the uniforms are more than just gear—they are a tribute to the nearly 50,000 volunteers who will serve as the “heartbeat” of the historic tournament across North America.

Design meets functionality

The collection is built to handle the diverse climates of the 16 Host Cities, blending breathable materials with versatile layering options.

  • The signature look: The design integrates the tournament’s visual identity with a signature heart-shaped pattern, symbolizing the passion of the volunteer team.

  • The full kit: Volunteers will receive a comprehensive wardrobe, including:

    • Sneakers and socks

    • T-shirts, shorts, and joggers

    • A mid-layer jacket and cap

    • A functional waist bag

  • The Varsity Touch: In a nod to North American sports culture, every volunteer will receive three Host City-specific patches. These customizable elements allow participants to personalize their look while celebrating their local community.

A unifying symbol

“As we unveil the look of our biggest volunteer team yet, we celebrate their unmatched energy and dedication,” said Heimo Schirgi, Chief Operating Officer of the FIFA World Cup 2026. He emphasized that the vibrant aesthetic reflects the “spirit of joy” that volunteers will bring to fans, players, and guests alike.

Beyond its practical use for easy identification, the kit is intended to be a lasting keepsake for those participating in this once-in-a-lifetime event.

By the numbers: A global team

The scale of the 2026 volunteer program is unprecedented:

  • 1 Million+: Total applications received.

  • 50,000: Selected volunteers.

  • 18 to 80+: The age range of the diverse team, from students to retirees.

  • 24 Functional Areas: Volunteers will support everything from stadium operations and training sites to the FIFA Fan Festival™ venues.

Next steps: From training to the field

The journey is already well underway. Following the launch of role-specific training last month, volunteers will soon visit local distribution centers to pick up their new gear. As they prepare to welcome the world, these uniforms will stand as a unifying symbol of the community and hospitality at the core of the FIFA World Cup.
