Forest made a fast start and took control early, with Taiwo Awoniyi opening the scoring with a composed finish that immediately put Chelsea on the back foot. The game took a worrying turn in the first half when a Chelsea player was forced off due to a head injury, adding to the disruption for the hosts. Shortly after, Forest doubled their advantage from the penalty spot, as Igor Jesus converted calmly to make it 2-0.
