Karim Adeyemi agrees Barcelona terms: Why Borussia Dortmund transfer won’t Bbock Julián Álvarez move

FC Barcelona is preparing a massive double-swoop in the summer transfer window to completely reshape their attacking frontline under manager Hansi Flick. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has officially agreed to personal terms on a long-term contract with Barcelona and has explicitly informed BVB that he only wants a move to the Catalan giants. The 24-year-old German international, whose current contract in Germany runs out in June 2027 and who has no intentions of signing an extension at Signal Iduna Park, is completely sold on the project in Catalonia. Super-agent Jorge Mendes, who shares a close relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, has been heavily involved in brokering the deal, seeing a massive market opportunity now that Barcelona is finally operating comfortably under La Liga’s stricter 1:1 financial rule. Barcelona has already submitted an official opening bid to BVB to secure Adeyemi immediately. While Dortmund initially valued the explosive winger at around €40 million, Barcelona’s opening proposal is structured around €20 million upfront plus a future sell-on percentage, meaning club-to-club negotiations are ongoing to bridge the valuation gap. The urgency to wrap up the Adeyemi deal also follows Barcelona’s completion of the Anthony Gordon signing from Newcastle and growing uncertainty over Raphinha’s future as he weighs a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

Crucially for Blaugrana fans, insider reports from Gerard Romero have explicitly confirmed that the Adeyemi-Barça deal will absolutely not impact Barcelona’s parallel plans to sign a new elite center-forward this summer. The club’s definitive top target for the striker position since May remains Atlético Madrid and Argentina star Julián Álvarez. The potential arrival of the World Cup winner has already generated immense excitement inside the Barcelona locker room. Rising superstar Lamine Yamal has been vocal about his desire to see Álvarez at the Camp Nou, publicly stating that the entire squad is ready to welcome him and calling the Argentine a “top player” who represents a perfect fit for the club’s tactical style. Álvarez himself has turned up the transfer heat by publicly announcing during the 2026 FIFA World Cup that he believes a transfer is best for all parties so he can fulfill his dreams, a move that infuriated Atlético chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín and prompted threats of a formal FIFA complaint over illegal tapping-up. Despite the off-pitch tension, Barcelona views the two operations as entirely independent and running on separate tracks. Flick views Adeyemi as a dynamic, versatile wide threat to complement, rather than replace, their younger attacking options. This leaves the central striker position entirely open for Álvarez, who concluded his club campaign with 29 goals. Barcelona’s board is fully confident they can structure completely separate financial deals to pull off both blockbusters, paving the way for a mouthwatering, revitalized frontline featuring Adeyemi, Yamal, and Álvarez leading the line next season.
