Nico Williams receives Muniain number 10 shirt at Bilbao

Bilbao, Spain: Spanish football sensation Nico Williams has revealed that he will be donning the number 10 shirt at Athletic Bilbao next season, after the last person to don the shirt, legendary captain Iker Muniain, announced his departure from Bilbao last April.

Nico expressed great joy at being given the opportunity to wear the iconic number 10 shirt, stating: “I am proud to get the number 10 shirt from Muniain and to make history as he did.”

The new shirt number comes one day after it was circulated heavily online that Nico Williams has given his “yes” to Barcelona, who have been chasing the youngster ever since the Euro 2024 tournament wrapped up.

Nico Williams was instrumental in gifting Spain its fourth Euro title, alongside newly acquired Barcelona player Dani Olmo, and 17 year old Barca wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

Forbes magazine, citing Spanish publication SPORT, reported on Sunday that Barcelona and Nico Williams had worked out an agreement and that the recent Euro 2024 winner.

The number 10 shirt matter is sure to cool down talks of a Williams transfer to Barcelona, with many seeing it as a sign of renewed loyalty to his current club Bilbao, and further complicating the transfer saga.
