Bayern Munich are on the cusp of advancing to the Champions League quarterfinals after a convincing 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
The German giants showcased their class, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Jamal Musiala adding another to seal a comfortable victory.
Kane opened the scoring in the 9th minute, heading home a perfectly weighted cross from Michael Olise.
Leverkusen’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when goalkeeper Matej Kovar’s mistake allowed Musiala to double Bayern’s lead.
The visitors’ woes worsened when Nordi Mukiele received his second yellow card, reducing Leverkusen to 10 men.
Kane then sealed the win from the penalty spot, converting his 31st goal of the season after being fouled by Edmond Tapsoba.
Bayern’s dominance was evident throughout, with Manuel Neuer making a crucial save to deny Jeremie Frimpong an equalizer.
The Bundesliga leaders will look to finish the job in the second leg at BayArena on March 11.
