Kane scores again as Bayern extend perfect Bundesliga start with win over Frankfurt

Harry Kane maintained his blistering form as Bayern Munich beat Eintracht Frankfurt to extend their perfect start to the Bundesliga season and move four points clear at the top of the table.

The England captain, 32, struck in the first half to make it 18 goals in 10 games this campaign, becoming the first player ever to score 11 times in the opening six Bundesliga matches.

The milestone comes just a week after he became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Luis Díaz scored twice – either side of Kane’s precise low drive from distance – to secure a comfortable 3-0 win for Vincent Kompany’s side, who took full advantage of Borussia Dortmund’s earlier 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig.

Bayern made a flying start, taking the lead after just 15 seconds when Díaz turned in Serge Gnabry’s cross – the fastest goal of the Bundesliga season.

Kane later saw one effort ruled out for offside and came close again when Frankfurt captain Robin Koch almost diverted the ball into his own net.

Frankfurt briefly thought they had equalised through Jean-Matteo Bahoya, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a handball in the build-up.

Kane then doubled Bayern’s advantage before half-time and later hit the woodwork, though he was substituted late on after a knock to his ankle in a collision with goalkeeper Kaua Santos.

Bayern’s defence comfortably repelled a Frankfurt side that had scored 17 goals in their previous five matches, before Díaz added his second late on to seal the champions’ 10th straight win in all competitions.

Bayern now turn their focus to a top-of-the-table clash against Dortmund after the international break.
