Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been declared fit ahead of Saturday’s LaLiga match against Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou, manager Hansi Flick confirmed.
The 18-year-old, who missed Spain’s recent World Cup qualifiers due to a groin injury, is set to return after being sidelined multiple times with the same issue since September.
Flick praised Yamal’s dedication during the international break, noting that the winger worked tirelessly to regain fitness after being released from Spain’s squad on November 11.
Raphinha is also in line to return after recovering from a hamstring injury, while Marcus Rashford remains doubtful due to illness.
Saturday’s match marks Barcelona’s long-awaited return to the Camp Nou, reopening after two-and-a-half years of renovation, though at a reduced capacity.
The Catalans have spent the past two seasons at the Olympic Stadium, where Flick guided them to the league title in 2024-25.
Flick said the squad is energized by being back home, describing the feeling of stepping onto the pitch as “unbelievable.” He added that the atmosphere and closeness of the fans could provide a major lift during matches.
Barcelona sit second in LaLiga, three points behind Real Madrid, and are preparing for a Champions League trip to Chelsea on Tuesday.
Flick emphasized a consistent, step-by-step approach, saying the team remains focused on their goals and committed to delivering top performances throughout the season.
