FIFA World Cup 2026 to champion unity, peace and anti-racism through global social impact campaigns

Zurich: With just one month remaining until the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on June 11, FIFA has unveiled an extensive series of social impact campaigns aimed at using football’s global reach to promote unity, peace, education, anti-racism and healthy living across the world.

The initiatives, which will run throughout the tournament, will feature prominently across all 16 host venues through giant stadium screens, LED boards and digital content platforms, reinforcing FIFA’s commitment to creating a lasting positive social legacy beyond football.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the tournament would serve as a powerful platform to celebrate diversity and bring people together through the universal language of football.

“FIFA’s social impact campaigns will showcase the FIFA World Cup as a powerful celebration of unity, diversity and shared passion,” Infantino said.

“Through our Football Unites the World, No Racism and Be Active campaigns, FIFA is aiming to use football’s unique power to build bridges and convey a strong message to promote peace, education, anti-racism and a healthy lifestyle.”

At the heart of the programme is FIFA’s flagship Football Unites the World campaign, first launched during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which highlights football’s ability to foster genuine human connection across cultures and communities.

The latest edition of the campaign will feature players participating in the tournament and focus on two major themes — Unite for Peace and Unite for Education.

Unite for Peace will underline football’s role in encouraging dialogue, respect and social cohesion. During the group stage, all 48 participating teams and match officials will wear Unite for Peace sleeve patches as a symbol of solidarity and collective action for peace. The initiative will also spotlight projects including the FIFA Foundation Refugee Programme, delivered in partnership with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Meanwhile, Unite for Education will be showcased during the knockout stages, including the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals. Players will wear Unite for Education sleeve patches to promote learning opportunities and support programmes such as the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and the FIFA Football for Schools Programme.

FIFA will also intensify its anti-racism efforts through the No Racism campaign, which carries the message “Listen, Stand Up, Show Up.” The campaign calls on supporters to listen to victims of racial abuse, stand against discrimination whenever it occurs and continue supporting efforts to eradicate racism from football and society.

The initiative forms part of FIFA’s Global Stand Against Racism, supported by all 211 member associations, and will have visibility at all 104 matches during the tournament. Educational toolkits will also be distributed to member associations, grassroots clubs and schools worldwide.

In addition, FIFA’s Players’ Voice Panel will continue contributing to anti-racism education and awareness activities through direct engagement sessions during the competition.

Another major feature of the tournament’s social agenda is the Be Active campaign, which encourages children and families to adopt more physically active lifestyles. Since debuting at Qatar 2022, the campaign has reached a cumulative global audience of more than 2.6 billion people and engaged over two million fans through events and activations.

The official mascots of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Maple, Zayu and Clutch, will lead interactive Be Active workouts designed for fans of all ages and abilities.

Dance cams inside stadiums and Be Active training clinics in different locations will further encourage supporters to participate in physical activity, while promoting the World Health Organization recommendation that children engage in at least 60 minutes of exercise daily.

Ahead of the tournament, FIFA will also revive World Football Week from May 21 to 25, inviting football fans worldwide to take part in Be Active activities, football-themed workouts and community events celebrating the game.
