Bournemouth agree club-record deal for Evanilson

Bournemouth have agreed a club-record deal to sign Porto striker Evanilson that could eventually cost them 47m euros (£40.23m).

Speaking to BBC Sport last month, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley said they have contingencies in place if a club triggered Dominic Solanke’s release clause, and the striker has now joined Tottenham.

Bournemouth had also been looking at Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. However, sources have said a bid for Evanilson has been accepted, with the 24-year-old due to fly in for a medical later today.

Bournemouth will pay 37m euros (£31.67m), with the potential for another 10m euros (£8.56m) should certain clauses be met.

Evanilson joined Porto in 2020 from Fluminense and was called into the Brazil squad for this summer’s Copa America.

Bournemouth’s previous record signing was Jefferson Lerma, who cost £25m when he left Spanish side Levante in 2018.
