Doha: Lukáš Kalvach and Joao Pedro delivered the goals as Qatar SC defeated Al Sailiya 2-0 in the opening match of Week 2 of the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Al Bayt Stadium on Thursday.
The match was turned on its head towards the closing stages as both sides earlier wasted many glaring opportunities to secure the opener.
Raoul Sanda squandered a begging chance to put Qatar SC ahead in the 19th minute when the rebound of a thunderous shot from Pedro fell unto his path, but the Cameroonian international disappointingly hit the side net with only goalkeeper Fahad Younes to beat.
Kalvach eventually got the opener from a beautiful long-range curling shot. Al Sailiya could have gotten their equaliser from the spot within seven minutes of the goal, but Mohamed Benyettou’s penalty kick was superbly saved.
Pedro extended The Kings’ lead late into extra time, scoring from the spot as Qatar SC made it two wins from the two matches played.
Lukáš Kalvach was named the player of the match.
