Zouhzouh scores lone goal as Al Wakrah beat Al Duhail in Week 2 of Doha Bank Stars League

Doha: El Amine Zouhzouh scored the only goal as Al Duhail lost to Al Wakrah in the Week 2 match of the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday.

Zouhzouh stepped up to convert from the spot in the 10th minute after Ibrahima Bamba had fouled him inside the box to give Al Wakrah an encouraging start to the highly entertaining encounter.

Things turned from bad to worse for Al Duhail in the 35th minute as they were reduced to ten men as goalkeeper Salah Zakaria was given the marching orders for handling a headed backpass by Jean-Charles Castelletto outside of the 18-yard box.

With their one-man advantage, the Blue Wave unsurprisingly took control of the match, and they seemed to have extended their lead through Redounae Berkane in the 43rd minute only to be denied after a thorough VAR check.

Zouhzouh’s lone goal proved to be the difference between the two sides as Al Wakrah secured their first win of the season.

Al Wakrah’s Assim Madibo was named Player of the Match.

Umm Salal secure 2-0 victory over Al Shahania

Umm Salal scored a 2-0 win over Al Shahania to log their first points of the season in Week 2 of the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League at the Al Bayt Stadium on Saturday.

Al Shahania were down to 10 players after Mohammed Bader Sayyar was sent off following a second yellow card in the 61st minute.

Umm Salal captain Oussama Tannane scored the first goal (43rd minute) for his side slamming the top of the net from left inside the box. He received a fine assist from Adil Tahif.

The Orange Fortress soon doubled the lead (47th minute) as Jean Evrard Kouassi received a super pass from Antonio Mance to go on and beat the rival goalkeeper.

Later, Mance himself came close to scoring at least twice, but once he shot just wide of the goal and the second time his header was blocked by Al Shahania goalkeeper Shehab Ellethy.

Tannane was named Player of the Match.
