DOHA: Al Rayyan SC booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2025-2026 QSL Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Al Shahania SC at Al Khor Stadium on Tuesday.
A brace from Ahmed Alaaeldin and a goal by Roger Guedes secured a dominant performance for The Lions, who avenged last season’s quarter-final exit and moved a step closer to their maiden QSL Cup title.
Al Rayyan asserted control early in the encounter and were rewarded in the 36th minute when Alaaeldin rose highest to head home from a well-delivered corner by Gabriel Pereira, giving his side a deserved lead before the break.
The second half saw Al Rayyan maintain their attacking momentum, doubling their advantage in the 62nd minute. Guedes capitalised on a defensive lapse, poking the ball into an empty net following another corner situation to put his side firmly in command.
Just four minutes later, Alaaeldin completed his brace in clinical fashion. The forward latched onto a precise diagonal pass from Tiago Silva and calmly slotted into an empty net, effectively sealing the contest.
Al Shahania struggled to respond to Al Rayyan’s intensity and organisation, finding it difficult to break through a disciplined defensive setup while offering limited threat going forward.
The victory marks a significant step for Al Rayyan, who were eliminated at the same stage last season by Umm Salal SC. This time, they delivered a composed and efficient display to secure progression to the last four.
With confidence high and attacking combinations clicking, Al Rayyan will now look to carry their momentum into the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of QSL Cup glory.
