Umm Salal advance with late double over Al Bidda in QSL Cup quarters

Doha: Umm Salal struck twice in the closing stages to secure a 2-0 victory over Al Bidda and book their place in the semi-finals of the 2025-2026 season QSL Cup at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

Goals from Antonio Mance in the 73rd minute and Cristo Perez in the 87th minute sealed the win after a closely contested encounter.

Al Bidda goalkeeper Carl Filip Sidklev delivered an impressive performance between the posts, producing a series of fine saves to keep his side in contention for much of the match.

However, Umm Salal eventually broke the deadlock following sustained pressure. Sidklev had moments earlier denied Perez with a stretched save from a goal-bound effort, but the resulting scramble inside the box saw Mance capitalise. His strike took a deflection off a defender before crossing the line, leaving the Swedish shot-stopper wrong-footed.

Buoyed by the opener, Umm Salal intensified their attacking efforts and doubled their advantage late on. Perez latched onto a well-delivered cross and calmly beat the advancing goalkeeper, placing his shot into the top left corner to confirm his side’s progression.

The result sees Umm Salal move a step closer to the title, while Al Bidda bow out after a spirited showing.
