Doha: Al Arabi secured their place in the semi-finals of the 2025-2026 QSL Cup with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Al Waab at Al Khor Stadium on Wednesday.
The Dream Team came from behind after Ousseynou Cesar gave Al Waab an early lead in the 13th minute. Cesar produced a clinical right-footed finish following a precise squared pass from Mohamed Methnani.
Al Arabi responded strongly and levelled the score in the 28th minute through an own goal by Ahmed Issa, who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a free-kick delivered by Gerard Hernández.
The decisive moments came late in the match as Spanish midfielder Pablo Sarabia took centre stage. He converted a penalty in the 89th minute after a handball infringement in the box, then sealed the victory with a superb strike in the 13th minute of added time (90+13).
The two late goals from Sarabia ensured Al Arabi, last season’s runners-up, progressed to the semi-finals for the second successive year.
The win sets up an intriguing semi-final clash for Al Arabi as the QSL Cup competition moves into its decisive stages.
