Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has announced the resumption of the Qatar Women’s Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season, following a temporary suspension due to regional circumstances.
Competitions will restart on Friday, March 27, with matches to be held at Halls (1) and (2) at the Federation’s headquarters. Two fixtures are scheduled simultaneously at 8:00pm, with Al Shamal taking on Al Gharafa, while Al Adaam face Al Khor.
The league will continue with an intensive schedule in the coming weeks. On April 3, Al Gharafa will meet Al Adaam, while Al Shamal will play Al Khor. Action will resume on April 7, with Al Khor facing Al Gharafa and Al Adaam taking on Al Shamal.
The final round of matches is set for April 10, featuring Al Gharafa against Al Shamal and Al Khor versus Al Adaam, bringing the season to a close.
At the conclusion of the competition, the Federation will honour the top three teams, in addition to recognising standout players, coaches and teams for their performances throughout the season.
The league will be played under a three-phase format, with the title awarded to the team that secures the highest number of points across all matches, a system aimed at enhancing competitiveness and improving player readiness.
As part of ongoing development efforts, Team Al Adaam will participate for technical purposes this season, with their results not included in the official standings. The initiative is in line with the Federation’s strategy to expand participation, provide players with increased competitive exposure and support the growth of women’s basketball in Qatar.
QBF reiterated that the resumed season offers an opportunity for teams and players to demonstrate their capabilities in a fair and competitive environment, reaffirming its commitment to advancing women’s basketball at both the local and regional levels.
