Doha: The Athletes Commission of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) on Thursday held its Ordinary General Assembly meeting for 2026 at Al Wajba Hall at the QOC headquarters.
The meeting was chaired by Mutaz Essa Barshim, Secretary-General of the Commission, in the presence of Nada Mohammed Wafa, Assistant Secretary-General, alongside members of the General Assembly and a representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
During the session, members approved the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewed the Board of Directors’ report outlining activities over the past year. The assembly also discussed key objectives for the upcoming period and future action plans aimed at strengthening the commission’s role.

The final accounts for the previous financial year were endorsed in accordance with the auditor’s report, while the proposed budget for the coming year was reviewed and approved.
Members also exchanged a range of proposals focused on athlete development, including initiatives to enhance technical performance and address challenges faced by athletes at both personal and administrative levels. Emphasis was placed on the importance of organising workshops and awareness programmes to promote sports culture and create a supportive environment for athletes.
The discussions highlighted the commission’s commitment to enabling athletes to achieve further success at both continental and international levels.
