Bayern Munich head into the break with a slender 1-0 lead over St. Pauli after a controlled first-half performance at the Millerntor-Stadion, with Jamal Musiala’s early goal separating both sides.
The Bundesliga leaders started the game with authority, dominating possession and immediately pushing St. Pauli deep into their own half. Vincent Kompany’s side moved the ball with confidence, recycling possession quickly and probing for gaps in the final third.
Their pressure paid off in the 9th minute when Jamal Musiala rose to meet a well-delivered cross from Konrad Laimer, powering a header past the goalkeeper to give Bayern a deserved early lead. The goal highlighted Bayern’s attacking efficiency and extended their remarkable scoring run this season.
After conceding, St. Pauli responded with energy and intensity, attempting to disrupt Bayern’s rhythm through pressing and quick transitions. They had moments of promise, including a few entries into dangerous areas, but struggled to create clear-cut chances against Bayern’s structured defense.
Bayern, meanwhile, continued to control the tempo. With players like Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané dictating play, the visitors looked comfortable in possession and nearly doubled their lead through Musiala again, who later struck the post in another threatening move.
St. Pauli’s best spell came midway through the half when they pushed forward more aggressively, testing Bayern with a couple of half-chances and set-piece deliveries. However, Manuel Neuer remained largely untroubled, dealing calmly with what little came his way.
Defensively, Bayern were solid and compact, limiting St. Pauli’s attacking threat and forcing them into low-quality chances from distance.
At halftime, Bayern will feel satisfied with their control and lead but may also feel they could have put the game further out of reach given their dominance in possession and chances created. St. Pauli, on the other hand, remain very much in the contest but will need more sharpness in the final third to trouble the league leaders.
