Sheikh Joaan strengthens Asian sports cooperation in high-level China meeting

Sanya: President of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Qatar Olympic Committee H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani,  held high-level talks in Sanya with senior Chinese officials.

The meeting brought together Sheikh Joaan with Feng Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China; Liu Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province; and  Wang Zhiyang, Secretary of the Sanya Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Discussions focused on strengthening existing partnerships between the Olympic Council of Asia, the Qatar Olympic Committee, and the People’s Republic of China, particularly in advancing sports development and enhancing collaboration within the Asian Olympic Movement.

Both sides explored opportunities to deepen cooperation through joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and continued support for sporting excellence across the continent. A range of topics of mutual interest were also addressed, reflecting a shared commitment to elevating Asia’s global sporting profile.

Sheikh Joaan expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm استقبال and generous hospitality extended by the Chinese hosts, commending China’s influential role in supporting and advancing sports development across Asia.
