Doha: The Gulf Cup Football Federation (GCFF) has announced the launch of the inaugural Gulf Club Super Cup, a new competition that will pit Iraq’s Duhok SC against Qatar’s Al Rayyan SC on August 13, 2026, in Duhok Governorate, Iraq.

The highly anticipated encounter will see Duhok SC, winners of the first edition of the Gulf Club Champions League, take on Al Rayyan SC, champions of the tournament’s second edition, in what promises to be a landmark event for Gulf football.

The introduction of the Gulf Club Super Cup marks a significant step in the evolution of regional club competitions and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the profile and competitiveness of Gulf football. The event is expected to attract considerable attention from fans, media outlets, and stakeholders across the region.

Commenting on the announcement, GCFF Secretary-General Jassim Sultan Al Rumaihi commended Duhok SC for its efforts in preparing to host the historic fixture and for its commitment to delivering an event worthy of Gulf football’s growing stature. He also praised the support and cooperation of the Iraqi Football Association in facilitating the organisation of the match.

“We are delighted to see Gulf competitions continue to reach new milestones,” Al Rumaihi said. “The launch of the Gulf Club Super Cup represents an important chapter in the development of football across the region and reflects the remarkable progress achieved in recent years at all levels of the game.”

The new competition is expected to become a prominent fixture on the Gulf football calendar, further strengthening sporting ties among member associations and providing an additional platform for champion clubs to compete for regional honours.
