QBF announces completion of arrangements for Amir Cup final

The 25th edition of the His Highness the Amir’s Basketball Cup will culminate in a final match between the Al Arabi and Al Sadd teams. The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) recently held a press conference at its headquarters to announce this exciting event, which will take place tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the covered hall of the Al Gharafa Club.

The press conference was attended by several notable individuals, including Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, the QBF Secretary General, Dr. Khaled Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the QBF’s Media Committee, Abdul Rahman Boufaisal Al-Darwish, Head of the Al Arabi Club Basketball Staff, Hatem Mamlouk, the coach of the Al Arabi team, Khaled Rushdi, a player from Al Arabi Club, and Khaled Al-Tamimi, Head of the Al-Arabi Football Staff. Also present were Yasser Ahmed, the coach of Al-Sadd Club’s basketball team, and Faisal Abu Issa, a player from Al-Sadd club.

During the press conference, Saadoun Al Kuwari, the Secretary General of the Basketball Federation, extended his congratulations to both the Al-Arabi and Al-Sadd teams for making it to the final of the 25th edition. He acknowledged their well-deserved success and highlighted their championship qualities. Al-Kuwari emphasized that Al-Arabi had already secured the league and Qatar Cup titles this season, while Al-Sadd was determined to claim their first title.

Furthermore, Al-Kuwari assured that QBF had made all the necessary arrangements for the final match. He encouraged fans to attend the event, which promises to offer various entertainment activities and the chance to win valuable cash and in-kind prizes. Additionally, a car will be given away as a gift from Al-Attiyah Motors and Trading Company, the official sponsor of the prestigious cups this season. Fans attending the final match will have the opportunity to participate in a drawing for the winning ticket.

Al-Kuwari disclosed that a prize has been designated for the top player during the Al-Arabi versus Al-Sadd match. He emphasized that the purpose of this award is to inspire the players to perform at their utmost level, particularly considering that the victor of this match represents our national team, which is preparing for the finals of the 2027 Basketball World Cup.

Abdul Rahman Bu Faisal Al-Darwish, the head of Al-Arabi Club’s basketball team, affirmed the team’s preparedness for the final match against Al-Sadd. He acknowledged the respect and admiration his team holds for their opponent, who has displayed exceptional performance levels since Yasser Ahmed assumed the coaching role.

He expressed that the championship holds great significance for them, and therefore, they must give their all to secure the title and accomplish the historic treble.

Meanwhile, Tunisian Hatem Mamlouk emphasized the significance of the Al-Sadd match in the final of this prestigious tournament. He declared his determination to not surrender in the pursuit of winning the championship, especially considering the presence of numerous distinguished players within his team, who have attained numerous titles in local tournaments. He acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming confrontation, given the opponent’s talented players, both domestic and professional, as well as their promising coach, who managed to reach the final despite the challenges faced this season.

Khaled Rushdi, a player from Al-Arabi Club, revealed that his team eagerly anticipates achieving the historic treble and etching the name of Al-Arabi Club alongside Al-Rayyan and Al-Gharafa teams, particularly since they have secured three titles in a single season.

Khaled Al-Tamimi, the head of the basketball team at Al-Sadd Club, extended his congratulations to his team for making it to the final match, along with Al-Arabi Club. He emphasized that both teams truly deserved to reach this stage after showcasing exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Al-Tamimi expressed, “The chances of both teams are evenly matched at 50%, making it impossible to predict the eventual champion. However, we hold great respect for our opponents and eagerly anticipate striving for the title, which holds great significance for us.”

Meanwhile, Egyptian coach Yasser Ahmed of Al-Sadd Club commended the wonderful atmosphere surrounding the highly anticipated final match of the prestigious tournament. He acknowledged that his team faced challenges in securing league titles and the Qatar Cup due to changes in the technical staff, but he maintained unwavering confidence in the abilities of his players to clinch the title.

Ahmed also conveyed his gratitude to the Basketball Association’s Board of Directors for the excellent organization of the tournament, which was commendable from all participating teams.

On the other hand, Al-Sadd player Faisal Abu Issa issued a warning to the Al-Arabawy team ahead of the upcoming match. He recognized the tough challenge ahead, especially considering the opponent’s success in securing league titles and the Qatar Cup. Despite this, Abu Issa asserted that Al-Sadd has the capability to halt their pursuit of achieving the treble.
