De Bruyne announces departure from Man City

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has announced that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Belgian has won 16 trophies with City, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2023.

De Bruyne, who has scored 106 goals in 413 appearances for City, described the club as “our home” and thanked the fans, staff, and teammates for an “unforgettable” 10-year journey.

City manager Pep Guardiola hailed De Bruyne as “one of the greatest midfielders to ever play in this country,” comparing his impact to that of other title-winning former City players Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, and David Silva.

The club has announced plans for a “fitting tribute” to De Bruyne before the end of the season, with Guardiola backing the idea of a statue in his honor.

De Bruyne’s departure marks the end of an era at City, where he has been a key player in the club’s dominance of English football over the past decade.
