Real Madrid players fined but free to face Arsenal

Four Real Madrid players, including Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Ceballos, have been cleared to face Arsenal in their Champions League quarter-final tie despite being punished by Uefa for indecent conduct.

Uefa had launched an investigation into allegations of misconduct by the quartet during Real’s last-16 win against Atletico Madrid.

However, the governing body has confirmed that no disciplinary proceedings will be taken against Vinicius Jr.

Mbappe and Rudiger were handed suspended one-match bans and fined £25,000 and £35,000 respectively for violating “the basic rules of decent conduct” under Uefa’s disciplinary regulations. Ceballos was fined £17,000.

The clearance means that all four players will be available for selection when Real Madrid face Arsenal in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at Emirates Stadium on April 8, and the second leg at the Bernabeu on April 16.
