Chelsea thrash Port Vale 7-0 to cruise into FA cup semi-finals

Chelsea delivered a ruthless and dominant performance as they dismantled Port Vale 7-0 at Stamford Bridge to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

From the opening whistle, the gulf in quality between the Premier League side and their League One opponents was evident. Chelsea wasted no time asserting control, taking the lead just two minutes into the game through Jorrel Hato, who capitalized on early pressure to give the hosts a dream start.

The early goal set the tone for what would become a one-sided encounter. Chelsea dominated possession and territory, pinning Port Vale deep inside their half and dictating the tempo with fluid attacking play. Their control soon translated into a second goal in the 25th minute, as João Pedro finished off a well-worked move to double the advantage.

Port Vale struggled to cope with Chelsea’s intensity and movement, and their defensive issues were further exposed before half-time. Under sustained pressure, Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing Chelsea a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

By half-time, the contest was effectively over.

Chelsea resumed the second half with the same attacking intent, showing no signs of slowing down. Their dominance continued to overwhelm Port Vale, who were unable to mount any meaningful attacking threat throughout the match.

The fourth goal arrived in the 57th minute, with Tosin Adarabioyo heading home to extend Chelsea’s lead. From that point, the floodgates truly opened as the hosts continued to create chances at will.

Midfielder Andrey Santos added a fifth goal in the 69th minute, finishing confidently after another well-constructed attacking move. Chelsea’s relentless pressure and clinical finishing left Port Vale with no answers as the scoreline continued to grow.

The sixth goal came in the 82nd minute through Estêvão, who had been lively throughout the match and finally got his reward with a well-taken strike. The young forward’s performance was one of the standout displays in an already dominant team showing.

To cap off a perfect afternoon, Alejandro Garnacho converted a late penalty in stoppage time to make it 7-0, sealing an emphatic victory and underlining Chelsea’s superiority on the day.

Statistically, Chelsea’s dominance was overwhelming. They controlled approximately 77% of possession, registered 11 shots on target compared to Port Vale’s none, and consistently dictated every phase of play.

For Chelsea, the result marks a significant boost in confidence as they progress to the semi-finals, showcasing attacking fluidity and depth across the squad. Managerial rotation paid off, with several players stepping up and delivering impressive performances.

For Port Vale, despite a commendable run to the quarterfinals, this proved a step too far. Outclassed in every department, they were unable to cope with the pace, quality, and intensity of their opponents.

In the end, it was a statement victory for Chelsea, a performance that not only secured progression but also sent a clear message about their ambitions in this year’s FA Cup.
