Alexander Zverev came from a set down to defeat Cristian Garin 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 and advance at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters on Wednesday.
Garin made a strong start, taking the opening set with aggressive baseline play and consistent serving. However, Zverev responded in the second set, raising his level and breaking at a crucial moment to force a decider.
The German held his nerve in a tense final set, edging ahead late on to complete the comeback after more than two hours on court.
The victory keeps Zverev’s campaign alive as he looks to build momentum on clay heading deeper into the tournament.
