Doha: The Qatari national beach volleyball team has wrapped up its intensive preparations for the 25th AVC Beach Tour (Samila Open), set to take place in Songkhla, Thailand, from April 12 to 15, 2026.
Qatar will field two squads in the continental event. The first team features the experienced Olympic duo of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, while the second squad comprises Mohamed Ehab and Moussa Al Khair. This dual-team strategy aims to bolster Qatar’s presence and deliver a strong competitive showing at the Asian level.
The Qatari delegation departed for Thailand on Friday. Following their participation in the Asian Tour, the team will enter a dedicated training camp in Thailand from April 16 to 19, as they gear up for the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China (April 22–30).
Mohammed Salem Al Kuwari, member of the Qatar Volleyball Association’s board of directors and head of the beach volleyball committee, said the national team’s participation forms part of the Association’s broader development plan. He emphasized that the tour helps elevate the players’ performance and readiness for major international competitions, ultimately raising Qatar’s profile in both continental and global beach volleyball arenas.
