Organizing Committee unveils Doha 2026 GCC Games schedule

Doha: The Organizing Committee of the 4th GCC Games – Doha 2026 has approved the official competition schedule for the multi-sport event, which will begin on May 11 with the participation of athletes from all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.

The fourth edition of the Games will feature competitions in 17 sports — handball, table tennis, athletics, padel, fencing, boxing, taekwondo, karate, swimming, billiards, snooker, 3×3 basketball, shooting, archery, volleyball, equestrian and bowling.

Events will be staged across 10 venues, including Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic Centre, Qatar Sports Club, Lusail Shooting Range and Duhail Sports Hall.

Swimming competitions will get underway on May 12 at the Hamad Aquatic Centre and continue for four days, while 3×3 basketball events will begin at Al Gharafa Sports Club over two days.

Aspire Dome will host taekwondo competitions for two days alongside table tennis events, which will run until May 17. Billiards competitions at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation Hall will continue until May 15, while bowling events at the Qatar Bowling Federation Hall will conclude on May 17.

Equestrian competitions are scheduled to begin on May 13 at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and continue through May 15. Aspire Dome will also stage fencing competitions over three days and boxing events over two days.

Shooting events at Lusail Shooting Range will continue until May 20.

Athletics competitions will start on May 14 at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar Sports Club and run for four days. Handball events at Duhail Sports Hall will continue until the closing day on May 22.

Snooker competitions are scheduled from May 15 to 19, while volleyball matches will be held from May 16 to 19 at the Women’s Sports Hall. Padel events at Aspire Dome will continue until May 20.

Archery competitions will begin on May 17 at Lusail Shooting Range and run until May 21, while karate competitions will take place on May 21 at Aspire Dome.

The GCC Games were first held in Manama in 2011, featuring around 1,500 athletes competing in 11 sports. Qatar finished third with 20 medals, including seven gold medals.

The second edition was staged in Dammam in 2015, where Qatar again secured third place with 59 medals, including 21 golds.

The third edition took place in Kuwait City in 2022, with Qatar finishing fifth overall after claiming 52 medals.
