Preparations in top gear for Al Riyadi Beirut Club versus Zamalek of Egypt clash in Doha

Doha: Preparations are in top gear  to facilitate the upcoming matches between Al Riyadi Beirut Club, the reigning Asian champion, and Egypt’s Zamalek on September 2 and 4, at the Aspire Women’s Sports Hall in Doha.

This event is being organized by Doha Active Sports and is under the auspices of the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF). Al Riyadi Beirut, the Asian titleholder, will arrive in Doha to conduct a training camp prior to their departure for Singapore in mid-September, where they will represent the Asian continent at the Club World Championship.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Doha on Saturday, accompanied by all their key players, including their new American recruit, Traven Thibodo, who will fill the gap left by the absence of Australian star Thon Maker.

Meanwhile, Zamalek is set to arrive in Doha tomorrow, Friday, to engage in a training camp as part of their preparations for the upcoming season. The Egyptian team aim to make a significant comeback, aligning with the management’s vision to restore the club’s prominence across all disciplines, particularly in basketball.

The upcoming matches are anticipated to draw significant crowds, particularly from the substantial Lebanese and Egyptian communities residing in Qatar. Engineer Mazen Tabbara, the president of the Al Riyadi Beirut Club, urged Lebanese supporters to attend in large numbers to bolster the team as they prepare for the world championship. He emphasized the importance of encouraging the players who represent the “Land of Cedars” in this national endeavor, commencing with the two matches against Zamalek, to ensure they head to Singapore with elevated morale.

Similarly, Tarek El-Saeed appealed to Egyptian fans to come out in large numbers to support their team in the two crucial matches against the champions of Lebanon and Asia. He highlighted that these matches are a vital part of Zamalek’s preparations for future competitions.

Tickets are currently available for purchase online through the ticketing box office website at the following link: https://www.ticketingboxoffice.com/Qatar, and they can also be acquired at the venue entrance.
