Al Ahli and Al Shamal post wins in QBF League

Doha: Al Ahli and Al Shamal clubs secured notable victories against Qatar SC and Al Khor, respectively, during the 14th round of the 2024-2025 season of the Qatar Basketball League.

In the first game, held yesterday (Wednesday) evening at the QBF Indoor Hall in Al Gharafa, Al Ahli triumphed over Qatar Club with a score of 95-78.

The Al Ahli team established their dominance early in the game, leading the first quarter 29-15 and maintaining their advantage in the second quarter with a score of 22-19. Although Qatar SC improved their performance in the third quarter, which ended 25-22 in favor of Al Ahli, they managed to win the fourth quarter 22-19. However, this was insufficient to close the gap. Dejan Janjic from Qatar SC was the standout player, scoring 36 points, while Raycon Deshaun Rogers led Al Ahli with 32 points, contributing significantly to their victory.

With this win, Al Ahli increased their total to 23 points, placing them in fifth position, tied with Al Arabi, Al Sadd, and Al Shamal, while Qatar SC remained in sixth place with 18 points.

In the second game, Al Shamal claimed a significant victory over Al Khor, finishing with a score of 101-92. The game began evenly, with Al Shamal leading 30-22 at the end of the first quarter. Al Khor made a comeback in the second quarter, winning 29-24. However, Al Shamal regained control in the thrilling third quarter, winning 21-19, and continued their strong performance in the fourth quarter, which they won 26-22. Billy Joel Hardy from Al Khor was the top scorer of the game with 30 points, while Terrell De Von Stoglin led Al Shamal with 24 points.

As a result, Al Shamal raised their total to 23 points, securing fourth place, while Al Khor remained at the bottom of the standings in ninth place with 16 points.

The league resumes today (Thursday), as Al Wakrah meet Al Rayyan at 8:30 pm, followed by a strong game between Al Gharafa and Al Arabi at 10:30 pm. Both games will be held in the Al Gharafa Hall.
