Brentford 2-2 Everton: Late Dewsbury-Hall goal denies hosts after Igor Thiago brace

By Ajileye Temi KIngs

Brentford and Everton played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium, with late drama ensuring both sides settled for a point in a fiercely contested Premier League clash.

The hosts made a dream start and were ahead inside three minutes. Igor Thiago calmly converted from the penalty spot after a clumsy challenge in the box, giving Brentford early control and energizing the home crowd.

Despite the early setback, Everton responded with composure. The visitors gradually grew into the contest and found their equalizer in the 26th minute through Beto, who finished off a well-worked move to bring the game level.

At 1-1, the match settled into a balanced rhythm, with both sides creating chances but struggling to take control. Brentford looked dangerous from set-pieces and direct play, while Everton relied on transitions and physical presence up front.

The second half followed a similar pattern, but it was Brentford who struck again to regain the lead. In the 76th minute, Igor Thiago grabbed his second of the game—his effort taking a fortunate touch before beating the goalkeeper—to put the hosts 2-1 ahead.

With time running out, Brentford looked set to secure all three points. However, Everton showed resilience once again and pushed forward in search of an equalizer.

Their persistence paid off deep into stoppage time. In the 90+1 minute, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall arrived with a decisive contribution, scoring a dramatic late goal to make it 2-2 and stun the home supporters.

The late strike ensured Everton left West London with a valuable point, while Brentford were left frustrated after letting their lead slip so late in the game.

Overall, it was a match defined by momentum swings and individual moments. Brentford will point to their attacking efficiency—particularly Thiago’s brace—but also rue their inability to see out the game. Everton, on the other hand, can take positives from their fighting spirit, coming from behind twice to earn a deserved draw.
