Al Arabi, Al Sadd set for blockbuster Amir Cup Basketball final

Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation has announced full details for the highly anticipated 2025–2026 Amir Cup Basketball Championship final, pitting Al Arabi SC against Al Sadd SC on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM at Al Gharafa Sports Hall, with expectations of a fiercely contested encounter and strong fan turnout.

The final was officially unveiled during a press conference at the Federation’s headquarters, attended by Secretary-General Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, club officials, coaching staff, players, and representatives of the local media.

Al-Kuwari praised both finalists for their impressive runs, underlining the Federation’s commitment to delivering a showcase event that reflects the prestige of HH the Emir Cup—one of the premier competitions in Qatar’s basketball calendar. He revealed that the final will feature fan engagement activities, including prize giveaways and a raffle draw for a car sponsored by Elite Motors, with the winner to be announced immediately after the game. Halftime entertainment is also planned to enhance the matchday experience.

Tickets have been priced at a symbolic QAR 15 and are available via the Snoonu platform, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.

From Al Arabi’s camp, Head of Basketball Operations Abdulrahman Abu Faisal expressed respect for Al Sadd’s quality, while stressing his side’s determination to reclaim the title after last season’s final defeat. Head coach Hatem Mamlouk highlighted the importance of focus against a team that eliminated defending champions Al Rayyan SC, voicing confidence in his squad’s readiness.

Player Abdulrahman Saad emphasized the team’s ambition to secure a third title this season, following successes in the league and Qatar Cup, noting the squad’s unity and championship mentality.

On the other side, Al Sadd’s Head of Basketball Operations Khalid Al-Tamimi acknowledged the challenge ahead but reaffirmed his team’s intent to finish the season on a high. He also called on supporters to turn out in force.

Head coach Cengiz Karadağ described reaching the final as a major achievement, particularly after overcoming the defending champions, and predicted a tightly balanced contest where marginal details will prove decisive.

Player Mustafa Fouda echoed that sentiment, anticipating an intense showdown. Having previously lifted the trophy with Al Arabi, he underlined the personal significance of the final as he now seeks to claim the title with Al Sadd.
