Al Sailiya, Al Kharaitiyat, Mesaimeer and Lusail reach Amir Cup Round of 16

Doha: Al Sailiya, the champions of the Second Division League, along with Al Kharaitiyat, Mesaimeer, and Lusail SC, progressed to the Round of 16 in the Amir Cup after achieving victories in their respective preliminary matches yesterday.

Mohamed Abdula Methnani scored a dramatic last-minute goal, allowing Al Sailiya to narrowly defeat Muaither 1-0 in extra time at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.
With the match poised for penalties after a scoreless regulation period, Methnani found the net in the 122nd minute, securing his team’s advancement.

Al Kharaitiyat triumphed over a resilient Al Bidda SC 3-2 in a penalty shootout after their match concluded 1-1 following extra time.
Souleymane Anne had initially given Al Kharaitiyat the lead in the 70th minute, but substitute Fahd Al Ameri equalized for Al Bidda in the 88th minute.

In another match, Mesaimeer, who finished seventh in the Second Division League, caused an upset by defeating runners-up Al Markhiya 2-1 at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium.

Lasana Ndiye opened the scoring for Mesaimeer in first-half stoppage time, and although Ibrahim Saleh Al-Kirby equalized for Al Markhiya in the 65th minute, Khalid Mubarak Alnainimi secured the victory for Mesaimeer in the 82nd minute.

At Grand Hamad Stadium, Lusail SC narrowly defeated Al Waab 1-0, capitalizing on an own goal by Sassi Khmais Zinedine in the fourth minute of stoppage time before halftime. The victorious teams will participate in Thursday’s draw for the Round of 16, joining the 12 teams from the Qatar Stars League.
