OCA President meets Chinese leadership to deepen strategic sports cooperation

Sanya: President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, met with State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Yiqin, in the presence of  , President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Minister of Sport, Gao Qidan, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Discussions focused on advancing strategic partnerships to support the Asian Olympic Movement and enhance its global standing, alongside opportunities to collaborate on hosting and organizing major sporting events across the continent.

Sheikh Joaan expressed appreciation for China’s efforts in hosting the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, commending the high level of organization and readiness, which underscores the country’s growing influence in international sport.

The meeting also highlighted China’s expanding investment in the sports sector and its commitment to hosting events at various levels, reinforcing its role as a key partner in the development of Asian sport.

Attendees included senior OCA officials: Timothy Fook Tsun Ting, Otabek Umarov, Nurza Zakaria, Husain Al-Musallam, and Sheikh Faisal bin Ahmed Al Thani.

The meeting aligns with the OCA’s ongoing efforts to deepen engagement with member nations and promote sport as a platform for cooperation and cultural exchange across Asia.
