Doha: The Qatar Olympic Academy has launched the 16th edition of its Advanced Sports Management Diploma, a flagship program delivered in partnership with and accredited by the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Solidarity, and the International Olympic Academy.
This year’s edition has attracted more than 50 participants from a wide range of sporting, administrative, and academic backgrounds, representing Qatar alongside several nations from the Gulf and broader Arab region. The cohort includes a notable mix of athletes and sports professionals, reflecting the program’s growing regional appeal and relevance.
The opening module, held over four days, focused on “Organizational Structures of Sports and Olympic Institutions.” It introduced participants to the governance frameworks that underpin global sport, offering insights into how Olympic and sports bodies are structured and managed.
The diploma spans seven modules running from April through December, with participants attending in-person sessions at the academy’s headquarters for four days each month. The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in modern sports management, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.
The second module, scheduled for May 18 to 21, will centre on strategic planning. Participants will explore key components of the strategic process, including environmental analysis, formulation of vision, mission, and values, and the development of strategic objectives. The module will also address implementation through action planning, as well as monitoring and evaluation mechanisms essential for organizational success.
Upon successful completion of all modules and submission of final projects, participants will be awarded an internationally recognized diploma issued by the International Olympic Committee. The certificate will carry the signatures of Kirsty Coventry and Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. In addition, participants will receive individual certificates after completing each module.
The program underscores Qatar’s continued investment in developing sports leadership and administrative excellence, aligning with global standards while strengthening regional expertise in sports governance and management.
